Fear

She felt paralyzed. Her body was unable to move and yet she felt a presence and couldn't escape. The air was still while any noise became monstrous. Subtly, her left foot moved half of an inch. She began to panic. She wasn't sure if she had done that or it had been moved by something. By someone. Her first thoughts were of Nicole. It had to be her. Both of her feet moved from each other then, and she shivered. Slowly, she felt pressure moving up her legs. It was as if someone were laying down on her bottom half, though no one was there. Her heart raced, her breathing became heavy and loud. She felt vulnerable and more scared than she ever had been.

Her eyes opened and she felt her heart still beating fast. She was out of breath and awake. She carefully pulled back her blankets and realized it was just a dream. The darkness was punctured by her phone light alerting her to a few text messages. She picked up her phone, able to move again, and saw they were from Nicole. She didn't answer. Just glanced and didn't fully understand them. Her flight sequence still activated, she put down the phone with a thump and looked around her room. She was grateful it was a dream.
